The Princess Royal Locomotive Trust - Race for the Livery
The locomotive 6233 'Duchess of Sutherland' in its usual LMS crimson lake livery.
The Princess Royal Class Locomotive Trust’s flagship steam locomotive ‘Duchess of Sutherland’ is currently undergoing a general overhaul following expiration of the boiler certificate. To raise funds to enable the ‘Duchess’ to return to running on the mainline as quickly as possible, the PRCLT has launched an exciting voting campaign named "Race for the Livery" to allow the public to decide what colour (livery) the locomotive will be painted following the overhaul.
From 21st February to 31st August 2011, the general public will be allowed to vote for any one of the four liveries ‘Duchess of Sutherland’ carried during its working life. The locomotive will then be outshopped after the current overhaul in the most popular livery. It will run in the winning livery for a minimum of one year, after which it will be repainted in the London, Midland & Scottish Railway livery of Crimson Lake for the remainder of the mainline certificate.
To register a vote for a livery colour, please telephone the relevant number:
LMS Crimson Lake Tel. 0904 161 9901
BR Green Tel. 0904 161 9902
BR Blue Tel. 0904 161 9903
LMS Ivatt Black Tel. 0904 161 9904
The full Terms and Conditions of the campaign can be seen on the Trust's website: http://WWW.PRCLT.CO.UK but in summary, each call will cost £1.50p from a BT landline, with other providers possibly charging more. The cost of calls from a mobile telephone will vary between providers and will cost more than a landline call.
Alternatively, vote by post for £1 per vote by downloading a form from our website (minimum of £10).
