East Midlands Museums Partnership

EMMP is the partnership of MLA, Renaissance East Midlands and EMMS, formed in 2008 to represent the whole museum community. The EMMP meets on a regular basis to ensure that the e region’s museums are being well served.

The strategic priorities of EMMP are to:

Promote the place of museums at the heart of our communities
Enable museums to develop and engage with a wider audience
Enable museums to reflect our changing society and its aspirations
Aspire to achieve sector excellence
Capture, care for & celebrate our cultural and scientific heritage
Enable the sector to become stronger and more sustainable.

The key benefits of the partnership are that:

EMMP represents and has an understanding of the whole museums community
EMMP partners have respect for, and interest in, working cross domain
EMMP’s independent status gives stability; collective organisational memory/knowledge; a strong voice; flexibility
EMMP reflects the strength and ambition of the sector supported by Museum Development Officer Network.

The EMMP partners signed a memorandum of understanding on 13 November 2008, indicating their willingness to work together, to demonstrate the effectiveness of ‘joined up working’ and to create maximum benefit for museums, their current, and prospective users.  In August 2009, the partners signed a constitution to ensure continued collaborative working in a changing environment.
