FEMMS’ mission is to promote all military museums within the East Midlands and their links with the community. This will be achieved by:
Raising the profile of the collections;
Increasing and improving public access to the collections;
Encouraging the development of educational initiatives; and
Providing mutual support and assistance to museums within the Forum.

Since formation the Forum has collaborated in many worthwhile projects, the most notable being “Was Your Grandfather a Soldier?” This involved five military museums resulting in the digitisation of records and images with a touch screen computer in each gallery allowing members of the public to access records.

The Forum meet twice a year. The next meeting is on 20 April 2010.
