Crich Tramway Village in BBC4 documentary
The National Tramway Museum, Crich, Derbyshire received welcome exposure through the BBC4 Time Watch series in December with the broadcast of an hour-long programme The Golden Age of Trams.
A comparison of pre- and post-programme website hits showed that in the hour after the programme there was an increase of just over 160%. Daily web hits rose by 65/5% from the previous Sunday to the Monday of the broadcast, and hits continued to grow on Tuesday with a 6% increase.
Curator, Glyn Wilton said he had been trying to persuade TV companies to film a tram documentary for years, and the response had been tremendous. “The website hits have been a revelation”.
