This is the first of two rounds - each one awarding £4 million - with the second bidding round to be held in 2013-14.
The grants include £200,000 awarded to Nottingham City Museums and Galleries for the installation of environmental improvements to the Fine Art permanent and temporary exhibition galleries. A new state-of-the-art system will control and measure temperature and humidity throughout the first floor galleries of Nottingham Castle.
